As the name implies, Invisalign clear aligners are made of almost invisible plastic. These clear aligners are completely removable which can be helpful for important social occasions, for eating, and most importantly, for better oral hygiene. Invisalign is a comfortable alternative to braces and allows for gentle tooth movement.
How Invisalign Works
Once Drs. Domann and Orfanos see that you are an Invisalign candidate, a specific treatment plan is created. Photos, X-rays and a 3D scan of your mouth will be used to offer a digital representation of your teeth. Specialized computer software helps us design a plan for moving your teeth from their current positions into the best possible alignment. Each plastic aligner is worn 1-2 weeks at a time so that we will be seeing you about every 8 weeks for your appointments. Since there are no metal or wires in your mouth with Invisalign, there are less reasons for repairs between appointments.
We have the iTero intraoral scanner in our office. Intraoral scanning offers many other wonderful benefits as well. An intraoral scanner provides better impression accuracy, which helps us with optimal fitting of our Invisalign aligners and other appliances. The best part of having an intraoral scanner is that no impressions are needed!
